Tis the season for test driving your wedding do!

Two words:  Bridal. Trial. Now.  {ok three}


 One of my favorite things to do is bridal hair.  One of my second favorite things to do is a bridal hair trial.  {I'm simple, I know.}

 I get asked a million questions about wedding hair, so I thought I might share some of my opinions on the process, especially since it is currently a very popular time to book your trials.  So, without further adieu, here are some heavy hitters:

    1. Should I wait until I get my dress? Probably.  A style depends at least a little bit, on the type of neckline the dress has.  I'll surely trial before the dress (and take the business), but it probably makes the most sense to wait until you have a dress.
2. Should I bring my vail or hair piece? Also probably.  If you want the full effect, then you'll want to bring a vail or any hair pieces you will be wearing in your hair.  Even if they are not the final ones, it helps to have an idea where something will sparkle or how a vail will look with the style.

3. Should I wear extensions?  I'm all for them {SERIOUSLY!}, but it is totally something for the bride to decide.  I don't think you should be pressured either way, by a hairdresser, friend, or anyone really.  A trial is the BEST way to see if they are for you or not.  Totally bring them to a trial if they are a possibility for you.

4. What else should I bring?  The best thing you can do is find photos for inspiration.  Yes, I can create pretty much anything, but what my vision becomes based on your description can be quite different.  Even if there are no photos of an exact style you like, having a few pictures of styles that you think are pretty are extremely helpful.  If you find photos of something you definitely DON'T want, you can bring those along too.  Having some yes's and some no's paints a very vibrant picture!  



-A bridal hair trial is a time where you shouldn't feel rushed.  So, plan to spend a little time relaxing and chatting.  I like to have a little fun, talk a bit, get to know how you work, and get an idea of how the morning of the wedding might look for you.  Every bride and wedding is very different, and I always like to figure out what we're working with for the morning of.

Taking pictures of hair is hard work...

So, lately I've been busy looking at other pro's take pictures of hairdo's.  What's the lighting like?  What's the background of?  What essentially is the best (or one of the best) setup, to take a great hair picture.  Sometimes with darker hair it's hard to see the dimension.  Blonde hair can look great even if the style is not that impressive.  These things have been driving me nuts. So, I caved in and bought a new camera.  And, began experimenting... Your standard blowout taken at the salon. Dimension on dark hair. Purple hair in low light. I'm liking where this is going.  Hey, you have to start somewhere.
